What are the chances that we are all stupid with our doleing out of historical famousness?

Name a Pharaoh of ancient Egypt. Good chance you are thinking king Tut. But why is that guy famous? He was a boy king. How could he have possibly had any time to establish civil policy or public appeal? The only reason we think he was cool was his tomb wasn’t robbed clean by the Romans or the Crusaders or Napoleon before the British found it. And then Steve Martin made a funny little song about him back in the 70′s. Really, no one cares about the people that actually had an impact on the ancient world. When was the last time anyone made a pop culture reference to Hammurabi? Even Cleopatra is only famous for her sexuality. Seriously, the parallel would be if a future civilization finds Milliard Fillmore’s tomb and since it hasn’t been ransacked (because he was clearly so important to warrant a well protected gravesite) he is the most important figure from our time. That Jefferson guy? Bah! Everyone knows Monticello gets razed to the ground in 2048 in the Danish-Hungarian war.
