A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

This comes in 14 parts. I know you see YouTube and go, “Oh, short attention span!” No. This will take up two hours of your time, so be prepared.

It’s a stage play put on by Scotch ‘n’ Soda Theatre, the one I stage managed and the reason I wasn’t available for comment or update in late April 2008. But despite the fact that it was a decent (and not inexpensive) production, the YouTube comments are much worse than those we got from people who actually saw it, because stage just does not translate to video. And that, incidentally, is the only reason it’s in my Corner. So bear that in mind, but it is still worth watching. Unless you hate musical theater, or you hate the way this musical is written–either of which, I think, are totally defensable positions.

[missing parts 10 and 11]

[missing part 14]

This musical was on Broadway for a while in the 50′s or something like that, but if you want information about it, I suggest you look on Wikipedia. If you want my review of it as a play, I can tell you that I think it’s pretty good overall but should have been a half hour shorter and should not have been a musical. All of its dull parts can be succinctly described as “Stephen Sondheim’s fault”. That said, the book is hilarious.

Also, either The Congressman or The Surgeon General filmed it, but I forget who.

Editor’s Note: The dick who directed this and uploaded most of it pretends he doesn’t know where the rest of the footage is, so this is probably all I’ll ever see of the show I neglected my relationship to see performed. Consequently, it’s all you’ll ever see, too. Thanks for omitting the part I call, “the part that’s actually funny!”

Passive-aggressively yours,
